HISTORICAL FACT N° 2

During the archaeological excavations carried out at the dungeon of Gouzon, the attention of the archaeologists was drawn to what appeared to be a doorway. When it was unclogged, the thick layer of yellow clay was suddenly replaced by black earth. This was the surface of a Neolithic ditch under the medieval structure! The presence of flint fragments confirmed this hypothesis. Thus, the rock spur was already inhabited in the Neolithic period, a period that marks the first settling of humans, the beginning of agriculture and farming.
